Hurray for the Martz

Steffanie and Byron I couldn't be more proud of you two! How exciting to be done and moving to a new phase in your life. The apartment is ready for you to move into anytime you get here...

I'm so unhappy we will not be enjoying the creamery this summer. I must say if you eat all the ice cream before we get there -- slush will hit the fan!

Steff sorry to hear you've been sick, really I am... but at least you were not at girls camp spewing in an outhouse!

WAHOOOO!

It's OVER!! Byron and I both finished our last classes at BYU last Thursday! We celebrated after I finished my last final by taking a trip to the Creamery... and yes... God remembered to congratulate us on our last day of classes ever and made sure Graham Canyon was there! That really was a miracle because the creamery is shutting down for an entire year and they said that they are only stockpiling 12 flavors during that time and Graham Canyon isn’t one of them! Sad day! (Don’t worry Mom, we purchased and extra 3 half gallons so that we could share with you all when you come to visit!)

Anyway... It still really hasn’t sunk in that we’re done because we’ve had so much to do. Our apartment was a complete DISASTER from 2 solid months of neglect. We spent the entire day Friday and Saturday cleaning it… and it’s only 500 square feet! Gross. And, our poor garden was so overcome with weeds that you couldn’t even see the soil. But we got that taken care of too. Then unfortunately, as soon as we got all done I got sick with the flu and spent yesterday with my head in the toilet. Sorry for the gross details. Anyway, since my time at BYU is pretty much over, I thought I’d share just a few of the reasons I LOVE BYU…

Why I love BYU…

1. It’s the only college where students are more obsessed with chocolate milk than they are with beer.
2. It’s the only college where students are more obsessed with mint brownies than they are with pizza.
3. Two words: Graham Canyon
4. I own a “Cecil is my homeboy” shirt. (Cec is the President of BYU)
5. Cecil O. Samuelson IS my homeboy (he’s waved to me…twice)!
6. BYU has the most beautiful college campus in the country (and I didn’t make that up… true story).
7. Girls are forced to date older boys, and boys are forced to date younger girls... everybody gets what they want :)
8. You get to go to your professors’ houses (and even shovel dung in their barns sometimes!).
9. They actually get to give you a grade on how much you know about the scriptures. Maybe if they had done that in seminary, more people would have paid attention?
10. It’s the only school where you can actually MAJOR in home and family living. (Oops! How did that make the list? Cause it’s actually something I HATE :)

But seriously, I really do love BYU! Go Cougars!

I think it is incredibly cruel to continue calling the new dog "dog" or "doggie" as I hear lolo call him, so I compiled another top ten list for favorite dog names:

1.  Rusty- Who doesn't want a dog named Rusty?
2.  Bruno- A disney classic from Lady and the Tramp...obviously a great choice
3.  Buster- For some strange reason I love this name
4.  Fang or Killer- listed together because they both have the same effect
5.  Champ- the name speaks for itself
6.  Charlie- as cute as Chester
7.  Butch- a Scott Wynn favorite for sons, why not try it on the family pet?
8.  Beethoven- a classic dog movie, also a great musician
9.  Buddy- As long as you teach him to shoot hoops
10.  Shadow- from THE greatest dog movie of all time...basically a wonder dog

Happy Father's Day!

Happy Fathers Day Dad!

I know this is a little late… but I thought this occasion called for a top ten list…

Top Ten Reasons We Love Dad

1. He never lets us forget to eat our crust.
2. He always reminds your friends when it’s your birthday… months in advance.
3. He knows every verse to every patriotic song.
4. He’s a human metronome.
5. There is nothing he can’t fix.
6. There’s nothing he thinks he can’t fix.
7. He has a secret life as the rapper “Masta Nasty.”
8. He’s the mastermind behind every Wynn family adventure.
9. He will NOT leave Disneyland until they close off the lines to Space Mountain and Indiana Jones.
10. He swam the English Channel when he got home from Vietnam.

I love you Dad! Thanks for always being so happy and so optimistic. Thanks for always believing in us and encouraging us to never settle for less than our best. Thanks for always being so fun and for always coming up with all the good ideas! You're the BEST! Never stop reminding us to have fun! Never stop being spontaneous... even if Mom and I freak out about it sometimes :) ... we secretly love it.

The faith your father and I have is probably to much for you to understand... we think it... it grows... we didn't even have to plant a garden. Then of course we watch... we have so many tomatoes and yellow squash coming it is so way awesome! I can't wait to sample the fruits of our faith... We'll try to share but you know the story of the Red Hen... sometimes you don't get to enjoy the hard labor of someone else--you just watch them eat it!

Green Goodness

Although I believe I CAN use the term EARTHINESS for food that is grown in my OWN backyard...I decided to go ahead and try a green smoothie to make a comparison.  It was delicious and I am addicted, and the term earthiness has new meaning.  Thank you Steffanie.  As for Loren...we have a compost too..so there..we're just as earthy as you.

"Fam"ousphere

Wynn Rap

W.7+

Win-Wynn

I can't help it but when I think of the Wynn Family Blog, it reminds me of the Von Trapp Family singers.

Success

For anyone who cares, we ate our first strawberry yesterday...delicious.  You could taste the earthyness in it.

I had to hold back a tear; our families first Blog!

Friday, June 6, 2008

Welcome!

Okay, I was inspired by Ellie to create the Wynn Family Blog! Lame name for the blog I know... if anyone has any fabulous ideas, let me know and we can switch it up! Since we all cant be together... hopefully this will be a place where we can each come to write about what the heck is going on in our lives, reminisce, share stories and pictures, etc... Don't leave me hangin on this guys... try to post once a week or so and we'll have a really fun family journal to look back at!
